Release - Jan 2006 Polyester Books fundraiser—31st January 2006 Help support Polyester Books in it’s fight against censorship.
Polyester Books, which was recently raided for having on its shelves
x-rated and un-rated videos and dvds, is looking down the barrel of a
potentially costly court case to defend the rights that others would see
kept verboten. A fundraiser for the cause is being hosted by the good people
of Per-verse, and all are encouraged to come down, support Polyester, and
have fun while you’re doing it. Per-verse will be held on Tuesday 31st January @ Dream NightClub,
229 Queensberry Street, Nth Melbourne. The event will be a fund raiser for
Polyester Books. MC: Lady Hannah Cadaver There is an open mike part of the evening as well as the swear off
competition and a chance to win the following: Cost: $5 all monies go to help Polyester fight their court case. What is Per-verse? Do you remember the first time you heard a dirty
joke? Per-Verse is a regular night of profane poetry, art and music. Our
quest is not to offend or abuse people, but to encourage opposition and
contradiction to accepted values in a way that is entertaining, fun, and
irreverent. We encourage people to express themselves and to explore topics
and taboos that are censored by the mainstream. We support: tel: (03) 9419 5223 More info at -

POLYESTER
BOOKS PRESS RELEASE 17/11/05 xXx BUSTED BY THE FUZZ & OFLC POLYESTER BOOKS TO CLOSE DOWN? On the 16th November 2005, Polyester Books of 330 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC was raided and searched by several police officers with a search warrant. Several hundred videos and dvds - with an X-rating or deemed un-rated - were confiscated. While legal in Canberra and the Territories, X-rated material is considered illegal in Victoria. And while thereís potentially no problems ordering this material from international corporations like Amazon on the internet, we say - "Keep Your Aussie Porn Dollar in Australia". We urge the powers that be to amend the legislation, permitting the legal buying and selling of X-rated content in Victoria and Australia-wide (not just in Canberra!) Is Club X next? Is Polyester Books the first in a statewide crackdown on adult entertainment and the selling of x-rated material? Very soon - NO PORN IN VICTORIA! Is this what you want? We are planning a campaign in response to this outrage that harks back to the dark ages of draconian Australian censorship. Please support the concept of personal freedom and help us survive this trauma by donating to our legal fund and signing our petition online: www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/757783800 in-store or at upcoming events. Support Polyester. We need your help. |
