802 Corporation DVD
DVD 795975106535 Disc New
THE CORPORATION is a well-organized and deeply fascinating documentary about the growing prominence of large global businesses, and the way that their decisions are impacting the world. The film shows how corporations have ballooned in size and power since the industrial revolution, and explains the laws and loopholes that allow them to remain nearly unaccountable for their actions. If they break a law, they are willing to admit guilt and pay the fine, because the profits outweigh the penalties. Therefore, they continue to cause serious environmental problems by dumping waste into rivers and oceans and by depleting natural resources, resulting in irreversible damage to the earth which also poses a serious threat to human life. Beyond environmental issues, the film shows how corporations exploit underpaid laborers in third world countries, violate basic human rights, make deals with foreign countries who are known enemies of the U.S., and in some instances perpetuate fascist regimes. Valuable, informative talking-head commentary comes from a diverse group including Ray Anderson, CEO of carpet manufacturer Interface; Sir Mark Moody-Stuart, former chairman of Royal Dutch Shell; Dr. Vandana Shiva, feminist and ecologist; Milton Friedman, Nobel prize-winning economist; Marc Barry, corporate spy; Joe Badaracco, professor of business ethics at Harvard; and activists Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Michael Moore. Providing useful references to major news stories that illustrate various corporate developments, and good information about how the system works, THE CORPORATION empowers viewers and shows them that they can realistically enact change. For that reason, this documentary makes real progress, encouraging viewers to take the world's future into their own hands and away from corporations whose sole interest is profit.

805 Brothers Of The Head DVD
DVD 796019796620 Disc New
Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe (LOST IN LA MANCHA) mark an extraordinary narrative debut with this faux documentary about Siamese twin punk rockers in the early 1970s. Stunning photography by Anthony Dod Mantle, which occasionally borders on the abstract, augments a story already rife with dramatic potential, which was based on the novel by Brian Aldiss. Recalling Alan Clarke's iconic Sex Pistols biopic SID AND NANCY in its grittiness and the volatile relationship at its core, BROTHERS OF THE HEAD centers on Tom and Barry Howe (real-life twins Harry and Luke Treadaway). Siamese twins recruited at a young age by a sleazy producer, the twins are groomed for a stardom which will inevitably become their downfall. Barry's innate nihilism and anger make him the ideal frontman for the band, while Tom studiously learns the guitar from a bandmate (Bryan Dick). But the brothers' dalliances with drugs, girls, and fame, added to the psychological power struggles already at work between them, eventually put them on the road to destruction. Equal parts homage to rock 'n roll and an insightful character study of a complex relationship, the film fascinates while not taking itself too seriously: Ken Russell's unfinished biopic of the boys is particularly hilarious. The excellent soundtrack of original music by Clive Langer (ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS), actually played by the actors onscreen, tops off this impressive work.

807 Death Proof DVD
DVD 796019803885 Disc New
Master director Quentin Tarantino (PULP FICTION) indulges his inner fanboy by paying homage to his favorite B-movies in DEATH PROOF. Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) stalks beautiful women with his deadly vintage car, but when he picks a trio of tough girls (Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms, and Zoe Bell), he learns they aren't such easy prey. As with any Tarantino film, there are plenty of nods to pop culture. Most of the scenes are deliberately short on plot development, the dialogue comes thick and fast throughout, and the film stock is often cleverly manipulated to perfectly replicate the B-movie aesthetic. DEATH PROOF was originally released as part of the GRINDHOUSE double feature with Robert Rodriguez's PLANET TERROR.

818 There's Gonna Be A God Damn Riot In Here DVD
DVD 804879088899 Disc New
When Bukowski arrived in Vancouver in 1979, his legend preceded him. Hank and Linda Lee Beighle (later to become Mrs. Bukowski) arrived the night before. There was a dense fog that night and they were forced to land 50 miles away in Abbotsford and were bused to Vancouver International several hours late - but, they were here! The reading was at an old hall in the Downtown Eastside; used for weddings and dances and was perfect since it reeked of life and use and was layered with nostalgia. It was raw, raucous, and raunchy. Also sublime. 650 people came. There was plenty of yelling and screaming and applause and repartee. There were also plenty of tears and shouts resounding with love and adulation for this man.

819 Last Straw DVD
DVD 804879088998 Disc New
Charles Bukowski didn't like to do live poetry readings. He did readings for the money, usually only a few hundred dollars. His performances were legendary; cultivating anarchy, he'd goad the audience to mutiny, and usually challenge somebody, or anybody, to fight. What happens between the poems is not filler. It's performance art. Only a few of his readings were filmed. This performance on March 31st, 1980 at the Sweetwater Inn in Redondo Beach, California, turned out to be the very last poetry reading Bukowski ever gave, even though he lived and wrote for another 14 years. The video of that reading remained in storage for over 25 years, and is presented here for the first time.

820 One Tough Mother DVD
DVD 804879280859 Disc New
Charles Bukowski did not like to do live poetry readings. But he needed the money. The readings were legendary and those who had the privilege of attending one felt they had witnessed, and participated in, not a dry, academic reading of poems, but performance art. At one reading, between trading sharp jabs with a heckler, Bukowski said, "Forgive me. You have my soul and I have your money." Eventually, his book royalties and film advances allowed him to retire from live performances and concentrate on what he loved: writing. He lived and wrote for another 14 years after these, his last readings. In 2008, the last two Charles Bukowski readings were released as individual DVDs, There's Gonna Be a God Damned Riot in Here! (Bukowski Live in Vancouver, 1979) and The Last Straw (Bukowski Live in Redondo Beach California, 1980). The two readings are different in tone from one another, but both were raucous, confrontational events, much of the action coming between the poems. Therefore, rather than cull out the formal poems, we offer the readings intact, as they are meant to be experienced. The 2008 releases were edited to avoid duplicate poems, but in this special 30th anniversary edition, they are offered uncut, in their raw entirety. Three New Featurettes & Then Some are included. Bukowski at the Huntington -- In 2006 Bukowski's wife, Linda Lee, donated a considerable Bukowski archive to the prestigious Huntington Library. We offer selections from Celebrating Bukowski, an event presented by the Huntington officially welcoming Bukowski's papers. Features talks, reminiscences and readings by admirers, friends and family, as well as an interview with Sue Hodson, Curator of Literary Manuscripts. Behind the Making of Bukowski: Born Into This -- An in-depth interview with filmmaker John Dullaghan, director of the definitive Bukowski documentary, about the making of Born Into This. Also includes selections from the film including poems read by Bono; Tom Waits; and Bukowski's publisher, John Martin, reading Bukowski's last poem; and a poem read by John Dullaghan. Love, Bukowski, Selected Scenes -- Performances of three Bukowski poems from the play as presented by the California Repertory Company as well as comments by Joanne Gordon, who conceived and directed Love, Bukowski, and was nominated for a 2005 LA Drama Critics Award for best adaptation. Also The Vancouver Gang, a mini-documentary of the 25th anniversary screening of the Vancouver reading, interviews with the producers of both films of the readings, and more Bukowski poetry.

830 Aristocrats DVD
DVD 821575540759 Disc New
"A man walks into a talent agent's office with his family and says, Have I got an act for you! The talent agent replies, So what do you do?" So begins "The Aristocrats," a joke that has been handed down from comedian to comedian for decades but is rarely told on stage. The next part of the joke varies, allowing for improvisation, and the only requirement in telling the joke is that it be as offensive as possible. Paul Provenza and Penn Jillette spent two years documenting as many versions of this infamous joke as possible, cornering comedians like Drew Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Susie Essman, and Paul Reiser whenever and wherever possible. The results are surprising, and often take their humor to places that may make sensitive viewers uncomfortable. While comic legends such as Don Rickles, The Smothers Brothers, and Phyllis Diller admit their familiarity with the joke, they shy away from telling their own versions. Some may be surprised, however, to see performers who are normally associated with family-friendly material, including Bob Saget and Jason Alexander, describing scatological and incestuous acts with deadpan glee. Ultimately, though, THE ARISTOCRATS is more than just many versions of the same dirty joke--it is an exploration of the workings of the unrestricted comic mind.

836 Un Chien Andalou DVD
DVD 824820192994 Disc New
Hailed as a surrealistic cinematic masterpiece, UN CHIEN ANDALOU forms the meeting of two brilliant minds--those of arch painter and sculptor Salvador Dali, and fellow Spaniard and legendary filmmaker Luis Bunuel. Shot in 1929, the duo plunged headlong into their fantastic imaginations, pulling ideas from their subconscious minds, and presenting them on screen. Based on dreams that Bunuel and Dali had experienced, their one rule for shooting was to reject conventional narrative so that any meaning attached to the piece was purely in the eye of the beholder. Which leads neatly into the most infamous scene in UN CHIEN ANDALOU; namely the close-up shot of an eyeball being pierced by a razor, which may not appeal to the fainthearted viewer, but is certainly one of the most talked about scenes in cinema history. Provocative, shocking, and powerful, the legend of UN CHIEN ANDALOU still resonates throughout the film world with an intensity that will remain undiminished for many years to come.

848 What Happened To Kerouac? DVD
DVD 826663204490 Disc New
This powerful documentary shows Jack Kerouac's unique creative process and rise to fame as a writer, while also shedding light on his turbulent personal life and his decline to an alcoholism-related death. Kerouac is the Beat Generation icon best known for his counterculture manifesto ON THE ROAD. He possessed unparalleled genius, but also suffered from uncontrollable personal demons that ultimately caused his demise. The film chronicles his chaotic yet fertile career in which he produced an astonishing number of novels and made history collaborating with artists such as Allen Ginsberg. The sometimes contentious relationship between Kerouac and author Neal Cassady factors significantly into the story. Cassady joined Kerouac on many of his road trips and unwillingly served as a character in Kerouac's literature. Kerouac never embraced the spotlight as his work fully consumed him. Instead, the film details how, through unsuccessful marriages, other relationships, and fathering one child, Kerouac yearned for a normal life. Archival footage illustrates some of Kerouac's most notable public moments, including a moving, harrowing appearance taped just a year before his death. Through intimate interviews with fellow authors, relatives, and friends, including entertainer Steve Allen, author William Burroughs, poet Allen Ginsberg, and ex-wife Edie Kerouac Parker, filmmakers Richard Lerner and Lewis MacAdams elicit a touching, well-rounded picture of this brilliant but troubled artist.

849 Divine Trash DVD
DVD 826663217698 Disc New
An in-depth view at the early career of cult filmmaker John Waters, from his childhood puppet shows in Baltimore to the successful "Pink Flamingos" of 1972, widely regarded as the most important underground film ever made. Features interviews with Waters and Divine, never-before-seen interview footage of Divine, exclusive footage of the rehearsal from "Pink Flamnigos," Waters' tribute to Divine, interactive menus, scene access, filmographies, credits, more.

Climaxing with Waters filming Divine's infamous "dog-excrement eating scene" for the American filth masterpiece PINK FLAMINGOS, Yeager's documentary is a loving portrait of the outré artist as a young man. Beginning with Waters's unusual childhood fascinations with bloody car wrecks and storybook villains, Yeager traces the self-proclaimed "Sultan of Sleaze's" career progression from amateur puppeteer to guerrilla filmmaker and celebrated cult phenomenon. Waters comes across as an ambitious artist with a singular vision, unflagging work ethic, and flair for salesmanship, combining the pluck of Benjamin Franklin with the aesthetic of a deranged Douglas Sirk. The interviews feature his parents, friends and collaborators (Pearce, Stole, Massey, Lochary, Divine), fellow filmmakers, critics, art curators, the beleaguered Maryland State censor who had to rate all of his films, and the director himself. Combined with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and montages of classic scenes from his early body of work (ROMAN CANDLES, EAT YOUR MAKE UP, MULTIPLE MANIACS, FEMALE TROUBLE, PINK FLAMINGOS, and more), the film pays tribute to Waters's influential approach to filmmaking and to his biggest star, the 300-pound drag queen Divine (nee Glenn Milstead), while simultaneously exploring his diverse influences (HOWDY DOODY, WIZARD OF OZ, exploitation filmmakers Hershel Gordon Lewis and the Kuchar brothers, as well as Warhol and Godard) and lasting contributions to American cinema.

852 Snuff DVD
DVD 827058102391 Disc New
Among the most notorious cult films in American history, SNUFF is famous for promoting the urban legend of the "snuff" film. In actuality, this is an Argentinean exploitation film loosely based on the Sharon Tate murder. The film follows the exploits of a bearded man named Satan who leads a gang of biker chicks in a series of killings. The footage that caused a fairly major furor over the film's release was a short sequence tacked onto the end that shows the director of the movie supposedly disemboweling the lead actress. Presented as reality, this footage caused a major uproar and has made the film the subject of endless speculation.

855 Mark Of The Devil DVD
DVD 827058106399 Disc New
This brutal film is a cult favorite of 70s horror fans, set during the witch-hunting craze in 18th Century Austria, and it remains controversial in many ways. Scriptwriter Adrian Hoven was replaced as director by Michael Armstrong before the film was in production. Armstrong was subsequently fired from his position after reworking much of the script and allegedly experimenting with drugs while on the job. Though uncredited, Hoven is rumored to have directed as much as 60% of the film. The film itself is a gratuitous feast of skin, sin, and ultra-violence, accompanying the opening credits with the brutal rape of a wagonful of nuns. The rapists happen to be the local witch-hunters, led by Albino (Reggie Nalder), who spearheads a number of atrocities before the innocent witch-hunter-in-training Baron Christian (Udo Kier) stumbles upon him mid-rape/murder of a servant girl, Vanessa. Christian's compassion for Vanessa enrages his mentor Count Cumberland, disillusioning poor Christian, who begins to see that the witch hunts are merely an excuse to steal the people's land and rape beautiful, buxom women. He leads the townspeople to revolt, but ultimately fails in his efforts, as Cumberland escapes and his people turn on him. Various subplots based on actual historical accounts of the time include puppeteers accused of witchcraft for their masterful control of marionettes, and a woman who suffers at the hands of a bishop she has accused of rape. Creative camera shots, extravagant sets and an excellent score accompany this orgy of viscous torture and cruelty.

858 Venus In Furs DVD
DVD 827058110594 Disc New
This bizarre European jazz-horror film is named after the controversial novel by Leopold Sacher Masoch, but the similarities end with the title. James Darren stars as Jimmy, a mixed-up trumpet player who finds the body of a beautiful woman, Wanda (Maria Rohm), washed up in the surf. He remembers her from a decadent party some years (or was it days?) before. In his flashback, she is mauled by some rich, decadent freaks named Ahmed (Klaus Kinski), Olga (Margaret Lee) and Kapp (Dennis Price). Jimmy splits for Carnivale in Rio, and jams with Manfred Mann, and soul-singing girlfriend Rita (Barbara McNair) until Wanda turns up alive (or is she?) Jimmy falls for her, and they have lots of sex, after which she stalks, seduces, and kills those responsible for her death. The jilted Rita gets sad and leaves Rio, but still sings the Venus in Furs theme song, and there's a neat shock ending. This acid-soaked Euro-sex time capsule is even weirder than it sounds, thanks to the uncompromisingly warped vision of director Jess Franco. This is considered the best of a string of films he directed for Harry Allan Towers.

A man of faith succumbs to a temptation he cannot resist in this drama written and directed by Carlos Reygadas. Johan (Cornelio Wall Fehr) and Esther (Miriam Toews) have been married for years, and live with their children in a Mennonite community Mexico. While Johan and Esther are both taciturn by nature, a moral dilemma is tearing Johan apart -- he's been having an affair with another woman in their circle, Marianne (Maria Pankratz), and feels he may be falling in love with her. While the tenants of his faith strictly forbid adultery, his need to be with Marianne seems stronger than the dictates of his moral compass, and while he's confessed his sins to Esther and his close friend Zacarias (Jacobo Klassen), subjecting himself to the shame of truth hasn't buffered his desires. Even worse, after Johan confesses to his father about his lust for Marianne, he's told that he may have fallen under the sway of Satan. LUZ SILENCIOSA (aka SILENT LIGHT) received its world premiere at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

871 Anatomy Of Hell DVD
DVD 842498020050 Disc New
Over the course of her career as a writer and filmmaker, Catherine Breillat (ROMANCE, FAT GIRL) has never shied away from controversial topics, using both mediums to explore her strong feminist opinions. Joining a generation of similarly taboo-breaking French directors such as Francois Ozon and Gaspar Noé, Breillat has no problem displaying explicit material to her audience and forcing them to confront their own assumptions about the relations between men and women. In ANATOMY OF HELL, based on her own novel, she presents a largely allegorical scenario positing that all men are inherently fearful of female sexuality. A gay man (ex-porn star Rocco Siffredi) prevents a woman (former Chanel and Gaultier model Amira Casar) from killing herself in a nightclub. Thrown together by this fated moment, she offers to pay him to watch her in the most intimate way--leading to a confrontational exploration of male and female psychology and misogyny. Never one to back down from the controversial, Catherine Breillat's explicit film ANATOMY OF HELL is perhaps the work that gets closest to her theoretical preoccupations.

880 Sarah Silverman - Jesus Is Magic DVD
DVD 855280001410 Disc New
Sarah Silverman is a comedienne who doesn't just court controversy, she positively wallows in it. Memorably putting in a brief yet discomforting and highly memorable appearance in THE ARISTOCRATS, Silverman offers viewers the chance to witness her stand-up act with JESUS IS MAGIC. The show itself was taped in 2004, and is interjected with off-set skits, songs, and general goofing around from Silverman and her friends in the comedy world. As soon as Silverman takes to the stage, sacred cows come tumbling down, and continue to do so throughout the set. Race, sex, class, 9/11, rape, the Holocaust--no topic is considered untouchable for the seemingly fearless Silverman. Amazingly, she also manages to come across as likeable and even prone to bouts of insecurity ("I just want you to think I'm thin," she pleads at one point), which undoubtedly makes some of the stronger material much easier to swallow. Director Liam Lynch, who has worked with Tenacious D, and made a memorable foray into the music industry with his song "United States of Whatever," keeps the visual trickery to a minimum, simply shooting Silverman with a basic crew and including a few swooping shots over the heads of the audience. The skits peppered throughout bring cult TV shows such as KIDS IN THE HALL and MR. SHOW to mind (Bob Odenkirk from the latter makes a brief appearance), and nicely break up the stand-up routine. Silverman never explains her humor or feels the need to put in a disclaimer to make everything seem okay, which is a device that not only makes some of the laughter a guilt-edged pleasure, it also forces the audience to think about many of the issues she is tackling, making Silverman's act enjoyable, unique, and deliciously funny.

883 Inland Empire DVD
DVD 858334001145 Disc New
With INLAND EMPIRE, David Lynch--creator of such mind-bending works as ERASERHEAD and LOST HIGHWAY--delivers his most avant-garde, abstract, and impenetrable vision yet. A three-hour fever nightmare of a motion picture, INLAND EMPIRE takes the basic structure of Lynch's 2001 masterpiece, MULHOLLAND DRIVE, and spins it even further out of control. A blonde actress (Laura Dern) is preparing for her biggest role yet, but when she finds herself falling for her co-star (Justin Theroux), she realizes that her life is beginning to mimic the fictional film that they're shooting. Adding to her confusion is the revelation that the current film is a remake of a doomed Polish production, 47, which was never finished due to an unspeakable tragedy. And that's the only the beginning. Soon, a seemingly endless onslaught of indescribably bizarre situations flashes across the screen: a sitcom featuring humans in bunny suits, a parallel story set in a wintry Poland, a houseful of dancing streetwalkers, screwdrivers in stomachs, menacing Polish carnies, and much, much more. By the time the film's electrifying closing-credit sequence arrives, even diehard Lynch fans will be gasping for air. What most glaringly differentiates INLAND EMPIRE from Lynch's previous work is the format on which it was shot. This is the first time that he has chosen to shoot on digital video, as opposed to film, and while the decision is jarring at first, the grainy imagery nonetheless casts a creepy, haunting spell. Laura Dern's multi-fractured performance is downright heroic. She gives the film the human grounding that it so desperately needs. Not for the fragile or timid, INLAND EMPIRE is a full-blown assault to the senses.

888 Bukowski Born Into This DVD
DVD 876964000062 Disc New
Director John Dullaghan spent seven years searching high and low for the most pertinent material he could find about the notorious writer, drinker, and recluse Charles Bukowski (1920-1994). The result is BUKOWSKI: BORN INTO THIS, a highly entertaining, informative tribute to Bukowski's work, his life, and the people who were inspired and influenced by him. Using a large quantity of grainy black-and-white interview footage shot by German Cosmopolitan in the 1970s, some of the most frank conversations and classic moments in the film--Bukowski driving his car through L.A. with a big crack in the windshield, telling stories--come from this archival material. Other interviews come from Bukowski's wife and a smattering of girlfriends ranging from "Cupcakes" to Linda King, from a former post office coworker, and from celebrities and friends like Taylor Hackford, Bono, Sean Penn, Harry Dean Stanton, and Tom Waits. Barbet Schroeder also appears in the film to talk about his feature film BARFLY, based on Bukowski, which starred Mickey Rourke. With readings of Bukowski's poems peppered throughout, the documentary traces the progress of his life from his miserable childhood to his 14-year tenure as a postal worker, his column "Notes of a Dirty Old Man" in the L.A. Free Press, his foul mouth and dark outlook, his misogynistic view of women, his books, and of course, his steady heavy drinking. And yet, the film is uplifting and shows Bukowski's soft, ironic side. BUKOWSKI: BORN INTO THIS succeeds with flying colors, adding new insight to this fascinating and hard-to-know character whose memory will not soon be forgotten.

890 Girlfriend Experience DVD
DVD 876964002127 Disc New
Steven Soderbergh is a cerebral filmmaker and, not surprisingly, his characters often live with their emotions compartmentalized. The lead character in THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE is no different. Chelsea (adult-film actress Sasha Gray) is a high-priced escort whose strict set of rules for dealing with clients allows her to maintain a seemingly healthy, honest relationship with her boyfriend Chris (Chris Santos), a personal trainer. But when a new customer invites her on a weekend excursion, she accepts, even though she knows this violates her bond with Chris. All of this transpires during a few weeks in October 2008, when the country is embroiled in both the presidential election, and, more importantly, the sudden economic downturn--Soderbergh consistently underscores that money is the chief concern for Chelsea and Chris, and everyone around them. She negotiates with a web designer to create a site that will build her notoriety, and contends with the extortions of a sleazeball blogger (movie critic Glenn Kenny). Meanwhile Chris tries to convince his boss to make him a partner at the gym, and accepts free trips to Vegas from one of his clients. THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE is among the best of Soderbergh's "little" films (BUBBLE, SCHIZOPOLIS), ventures where he recharges his artistic batteries and tries out new techniques before jumping back into the world of superstars and big budgets. The casting of porn star Grey gives the director exactly what he wants: a flat, uncharismatic performance that gives the character mystery. Other than money, we're not sure what motivates her, and that's the point: Chelsea doesn't know either. For those inclined to follow Soderbergh down every nook and cranny of his career, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE is a welcome reminder of how probing he can be about matters of the heart.

891 Smash His Camera DVD
DVD 876964003476 Disc New
Years before the word "paparazzi" had any meaning for most Americans, Ron Galella exemplified the new breed of celebrity photographers who specialized in shots of stars with their guards down, and he was wildly successful in the 1960s and '70s while also making more than a few enemies among the wealthy and famous. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, one of Galella's favorite subjects, took him to court in 1972 to prevent him from obsessively following her (Galella was given a restraining order preventing him from coming within 150 feet of her for the rest of her life), while in 1973 Marlon Brando took a more direct approach, punching the photographer in the face and breaking his jaw as Galella tried to snap his picture. While Galella seemingly has little sense of shame or propriety about his work, he also had a gift for capturing exciting images on the run, and unlike most of his peers his work has been shown in galleries around the world and he's widely regarded as the most gifted artist in his chosen field. Filmmaker Leon Gast offers a look at the public and private sides of Ron Galella in the documentary SMASH HIS CAMERA, in which he talks about his career, his attitude abut celebrity culture, and his run-ins with some of his subjects. SMASH HIS CAMERA was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

892 Freakonomics DVD
DVD 876964003568 Disc New
Which is more dangerous, a gun or a swimming pool?
What do schoolteachers and sumo wrestlers have in common?
How much do parents really matter?
These may not sound like typical questions for an economist to ask. But Steven D. Levitt is not a typical economist. He studies the riddles of everyday life--from cheating and crime to parenting and sports--and reaches conclusions that turn conventional wisdom on its head. "Freakonomics" is a groundbreaking collaboration between Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award-winning author and journalist. They set out to explore the inner workings of a crack gang, the truth about real estate agents, the secrets of the Ku Klux Klan, and much more. Through forceful storytelling and wry insight, they show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives--how people get what they want or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing.

896 Loose Change 2nd Edition DVD
DVD 880198098894 Disc New
What if 9/11 didn't happen the way we think it did? This DVD is a forensic examination of the witness testimony, on the spot reporting and scientific evidence which disputes what we now accept as Truth. It makes no claim to have all the facts; however the film highlights inconsistencies in the story, which, until now, have been left unexamined by the mainstream media. This exceptional 89-minute documentary offers viewers an examination of a broad swathe of freely available evidence from witnesses, news reporters, emergency workers, and scientists. The film suggests that 9/11 could only have been the most sophisticated propaganda exercise in human history, masterminded and executed from within our own government.
