Sonderland is the first book of the Sonderland Project with the aim: to produce innovative philosophy in writing that values clarity and is both engaging and accessible to the educated general reader. The specific focus of the Project is this – How to bring the modern and postmodern critiques of the Enlightenment into the compass of analytical philosophy; and how in this process to lay down clear empirical foundations for the New Enlightenment. This is the task of Sonderland which provides a comprehensive treatment of this foundational work in three acts. Act I: A dialogue showing the failing of conventional thought at the outset: the problem being that ‘culture is crude’. Act II: A sequence of vigorous essays on the Invention of Art where the reader personally discovers the real elements of culture ‘fictive art’ and finds in these elements a valuable model for a consciousness freed up from belief. Act III: In a sequence of dialogues self-awareness is completely rebuilt now from the ground up. The primary particles of this thought are not Beliefs but Gymusing. A book full of interest this is a work of philosophy that uses the classical tools of clear sense and direct speech to construct and put to the test a radically new way of thinking of ourselves. The end result is a new psychology: the articulation of a transformative new self- consciousness.
