Dan Yack is an eccentric English millionaire a notorious hell-raiser and the envy of all St. Petersburg. He is also the alter ego of his creator the acclaimed French writer Blaise Cendrars (1887-1961). Spurned by his lover Yack awakens in a bar one night amidst three hard-up artists. He immediately invites them to accompany him on a world voyage via the Antarctic. They accept. Unfortunately the weather gets bad and after the boat enters pack-ice Yack orders the crew to land them while they wait for clear passage. Things deteriorate terribly with the group.
